DANCE THIS WAY 2017 WAS A SUCCESS!

On Sunday, May 7th, approximately 300 of you, our Felix Family, came together to celebrate The Felix Organization’s biggest event of the year, DANCE THIS WAY! Thank you to everyone who participated.

For the past few months, 37 dance teams comprised of 118 dancers have been raising money to support our mission to provide inspiring opportunities and experiences for children in foster care. Through your dedicated efforts and the money raised at the event, our grand total raised is:

$308,726

Gathered at Stage 48 in NYC, we danced non-stop through the decades, featuring music from the 50s to the early 2000s played by world renowned DJ’s, including Dina Regine and TJ Mizell. Live performances included the NYC Tap Kids Crew, Broadway Stars, and original camp cheers chanted by Camp Felix staff and campers. Guests were also treated to foot massages, face painting, delicious food, a photobooth, and more!

This year’s Felix Dream Maker award was given to James Wahlberg, president of the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, for supporting our efforts to send more children in foster care to Camp Felix this summer. Our Felix Future Dream Makers were former campers and current camp staff, Carlos Araya and Jasmine Vann, for their continued and dedicated involvement with The Felix Organization for almost 10 years.

Just as they say it takes a village (or in our case, a camp) to raise a child, it takes a whole team to make Dance This Way a reality. As such, we would like to thank our founders, Sheila and Darryl, and our event planner, Joy Heslinga, for another successful year of Dance This Way. Thank you to all of our volunteers and Felix staff for working their magic behind the scenes. And thank you to our event sponsors and in-kind donors who make our mission possible through their continued generosity.
